Gazpromneft F Synth EP: industrial experience and support for a planned oil changeover

Reliable turbines and compressors help a plant keep its production and maintenance plans on track. The oil decision involves equipment requirements, the condition of the current lubricant and the work needed for a changeover. FEOTECH offers Gazpromneft Turbine Oil F Synth EP-32 and EP-46 for assessment against those requirements, supported by documented industrial experience, product records and a technical-support process for customers in Indonesia.

A product decision built around the equipment

Turbine gear units and high-speed compressors place different demands on a circulating oil system. The buyer needs the right viscosity and performance level, a clear technical basis for selection and an agreed maintenance and supply plan.

F Synth EP-32 and EP-46 combine ISO VG 32 and 46 viscosities with extreme-pressure properties for the applications specified by the manufacturer. FEOTECH reviews the machine specification before recommending a grade. Operating references help assess the offer; the requirements of the customer’s own equipment determine the selection.

Equipment, operating hours and oil-system volumes

Izhevsk CHP-1 reports 24 months of Gazpromneft Turbine Oil F Synth EP-46 operation in Renk-Maag GMX-4-76 turbine gear units, with 8,500 operating hours and no reported deviations in gearbox operation. Each oil system holds 3,500 litres.

At the Omsk refinery, the EP-46 operating trial covered Turbo-Air NX 12000 air compressors. The reported machine parameters include a rotor speed of 30,000 rpm, power consumption of 1,271 kW and an 870-litre oil system. The report records 8,123 operating hours and successful completion of the trial programme.

A separate EP-32 programme covered the MAN CP-100 gas screw compressor: up to 12,200 rpm, 132 kW power consumption and a 200-litre oil system. The report records 8,556 operating hours, normal equipment parameters and successful completion of that programme.

Documents that support the product choice

Siemens Energy’s letter dated 8 July 2021 covers F Synth EP-32 and EP-46 under TLV 901304 and TLV 901305 for Siemens turbosets with and without gearboxes. It gives the customer a specific document to check against the machine’s requirements.

Oxidation stability, air release, water separation and protection of loaded gears address different demands in the oil system. FEOTECH uses the manufacturer’s TDS and the relevant approval scope in its assessment. The reported operating hours belong to the installations and trial programmes described above; they do not set a universal replacement interval.

FEOTECH: from assessment to a planned changeover

FEOTECH places particular emphasis on technical support before an oil change. Equipment data, the current lubricant, operating conditions and oil-analysis results help define the assessment. Compatibility testing, system preparation, filling and subsequent monitoring are discussed as parts of one changeover plan.

The practical question is the full cost of the work: oil, draining and cleaning, filtration, labour, waste handling and the maintenance window. FEOTECH discusses the technical-support scope, laboratory programme, commercial terms and supply requirements for the project. A baseline sample after filling and an agreed monitoring schedule support later maintenance decisions.

  1. Provide equipment data and a sample of the current oil.
  2. Agree the compatibility test and review the results.
  3. Select the grade and define the changeover procedure.
  4. Establish the baseline sample and an oil-monitoring schedule.

Presentation and product documents for the next discussion

The updated v3.5 presentation is available in English, Bahasa Indonesia and Russian, with 29 slides in each PDF. It brings equipment applications, operating references, product documents and the FEOTECH support process into one reference for the customer’s technical and procurement teams.

A short Q&A with FEOTECH

DIRECTOR’S PERSPECTIVE

What does FEOTECH offer the buyer beyond the oil itself?

Our job is to connect the strengths of the product with the customer’s own operating needs. Industrial references are a useful starting point, but the discussion must lead to a clear equipment assessment, supporting documents and an agreed plan for changeover and supply. We want customers to understand what they are selecting, how the transition will be organised and what technical support is included.

SALES TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Can a customer add F Synth EP to the oil already in the system?

The same viscosity grade is not enough to make that decision. We review the current oil, its condition and the equipment requirements first. Where mixing is being considered, FEOTECH coordinates an agreed compatibility programme using ASTM D7155 as the assessment framework. The results help define the need for draining, cleaning or flushing, filtration and filling. The final recommendation takes the OEM requirements and actual system condition into account.
